For the past 130 days, British environmentalist David de Rothschild and his team have been sailing from San Francisco to Sydney on a 60-foot catamaran made of 12,500 reclaimed plastic bottles. The aim was to bring attention to the disastrous impact of plastic on our environment, especially the oceans. To help the cause further, IWC (the official partner of the mission) is putting the watch that de Rothschild wore, the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth, up for auction. With a IWC 80110 calibre, a water-resistant case and bright blue dial, the watch has a reserve bidding price of €30,000. Watch enthusiasts can continue to bid until the 7th August, with all proceeds from the auction going to "Sculpt the Future" foundation, a UK charity that aims to promote environmental change by supporting creative action.
