Champagne lovers can pop a cork in celebration as the long-awaited Dom Pérignon Vintage 2002 is finally available. In 2002, the spring was warm and dry; the summer was sunny but interspersed with regular rain: the result is a "highly concentrated vintage" which "expresses all the power of grapes picked at the peak of their maturity", says Richard Geoffroy, Dom Pérignon's Chef de Cave. With hints of fresh almond and rounded off by darker smoky and toasty qualities, the champagne is concentrated yet creamy with just an elegant hint of underlying bitterness.
